The Eswatini Psychology Association (EPA) was established for psychologists in Eswatini to work together to enable professional development and promote understanding of mental health.

Our aim is to increase accessibility of psychological services Eswatini, support the growth and development of psychology as a profession and body of knowledge in Eswatini and  ensure high quality of service provision.

We want to help improve the mental health services in Eswatini, whilst also working to create more opportunities for professional development and growth.

Our psychology service does not discriminate, is not prejudiced and is holistically inclusive as we cater to people from socio-cultural and previously discriminated populations.

Vision

Our vision is to promote the common interests of the members of the Association, who are practitioners of or who are involved in the field of psychology.

Mission

Whilst we are mindful of the principles underlying the Constitution of the Kingdom of Eswatini, our mission is to: Ensure that psychology serves the needs and interests of all Eswatini people by developing an organizational structure for psychology that gives a voice to all users of psychological knowledge and skills. This ensures transparent accountable governance of the Association to serve the expressed wishes of its membership, ensuring that the Association remains an organ of civil society without an overt or covert loyalty to any political entity. We also aim to advance psychology as a science, profession and as a means of promoting human well-being by actively striving for social justice, opposing policies that deny individuals or groups access to the material and psychological conditions necessary for optimal human development, and protesting against any violations of basic human rights. Moreover, we aim to promote rigorous research and encourage the application of research findings in the advancement of public well-being. We hope to achieve all this through establishing and maintaining the highest standards of ethics, conduct, and lifelong education of psychologists, engaging in policy development processes that are relevant to the social enhancement and psychological practice in Eswatini, and promoting the rendering of and advancing mental health services to all in Eswatini.

Current members of the EPA have varying levels of qualification and different expertise, including clinical, counseling, organizational, community, family, forensic and research psychology. We focus on developing quality assurance strategies and raising public awareness through different advocacy methods to highlight what psychology is and how it can help improve wellbeing.

Our objectives are to contribute towards knowledge and professional development through hosting workshops, increase the visibility of the Association, increase our membership, and engage in public dialogues and forums on issues of mental health.
